# 347H Tube Supplier Review: Documents to Check Before Acceptance

Canonical: https://jundapipe.com/en-GB/blog/347h-tube-supplier-document-review

Review a 347H tube offer through a document trail linking the order, heat, inspection records and delivered pieces, including Japan project requirements.

Review a 347H tube supplier by checking whether the proposed product, material condition, examination and traceability meet the purchase specification. A certificate headed “stainless steel” or “347H” is not sufficient if it cannot be connected to the order and delivered material.

For a Japan project, add the complete required Japanese specification and document requirements. Treat any proposed cross-standard substitution as a separate approval item. The supplier’s country and the destination do not resolve material compliance.

## Is the requested product actually pipe or tube?

[ASTM A213/A213M-25](https://store.astm.org/a0213_a0213m-25.html) covers seamless boiler, superheater and heat-exchanger tubes and describes different requirements for H grades. [ASTM A312/A312M-25](https://store.astm.org/a0312_a0312m-25.html) covers austenitic pipe and identifies TP347H in its grade context. Review the exact required product form before comparing certificates.

An offer may use “pipe” and “tube” informally. The controlling documents should remove that ambiguity by stating the standard, edition, designation, dimensions and wall basis.

## Which documents should connect to each other?

| Document | Required connection | Question at review |
| ------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| Approved purchase specification | Order line and drawing revision | What is the acceptance basis? |
| Supplier technical offer | Same line item and agreed deviations | What exactly has been offered? |
| Material certificate | Heat or lot identity and product description | Does it support the ordered grade and condition? |
| Examination records | Identified material, method and acceptance criteria | Which required examinations were actually recorded? |
| Packing and marking records | Delivered pieces or bundles | Can the physical shipment be connected to the records? |

This is an evidence map, not a claim that one certificate type is mandatory for every application. Set the document type and required content in the order.

## What should be checked in a sample certificate?

Use a sample to discuss format, fields and traceability. Check whether the supplier can show the specification edition, material identity, relevant chemistry and mechanical results, condition and examination references. A redacted sample may be appropriate for protecting another customer’s details.

Do not accept the sample as evidence for the ordered heat. At shipment, review the actual documents and confirm that identifiers agree across the certificate, inspection reports, packing list and markings. Resolve discrepancies before release.

## How should a missing requirement be handled?

First identify whether the requirement comes from the product standard, general requirements or the purchase specification. [ASTM A1016/A1016M-24a](https://store.astm.org/a1016_a1016m-24a.html) explains the precedence for the tube standards it covers: product requirements override conflicting general requirements, while more stringent order requirements take precedence.

Record the discrepancy, requested evidence and responsible reviewer. A missing test result is not a passing result. A proposed waiver should be approved through the project process, not hidden by deleting the requirement from a comparison sheet.

Junda lists [347H seamless pipe](https://jundapipe.com/products/347h-seamless-stainless-steel-pipe), but that listing does not confirm a particular tube standard or document package.
