# Extra-Long Stainless Tubes: Plan Length, Inspection and Delivery Together

Canonical: https://jundapipe.com/en-GB/blog/extra-long-stainless-tube-length-planning

Compare continuous long tubes with joined lengths using an illustrative joint count, then define straightness, inspection and transport requirements.

An extra-long stainless tube is useful only if its continuous length can be manufactured, examined, transported and installed under the project requirements. Specify the required finished length and tolerance, then check every stage that must handle it. A catalogue label does not establish a maximum available length.

Junda lists an [extra-long stainless steel tube](https://jundapipe.com/products/extra-long-stainless-steel-tube). [Catalogue source](https://jundapipe.com/products) Request confirmation for the actual diameter, wall, grade and length combination rather than transferring a company-wide size claim to that item.

## How can length change the number of joints?

For a simple straight run assembled from n equal pieces, there are n − 1 internal piece-to-piece joints, excluding end connections. As an illustrative layout, four 6 m pieces make 24 m before joint details and cutting allowances and introduce three internal joints. Two 12 m pieces introduce one; one continuous 24 m piece introduces none.

This is a layout calculation, not a claim that Junda supplies 12 m or 24 m lengths. Real designs must include fittings, bends, supports, joining allowances and installation constraints. Removing an internal joint does not by itself establish lower total cost or greater reliability.

## Which constraints should be checked before choosing a length?

| Stage | Information to confirm | Document or acceptance basis |
| ------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------- |
| Production | Feasible grade, OD, wall and continuous length combination | Technical offer with tolerances |
| Examination | Coverage over the ordered length and treatment of end zones | Inspection plan and reports |
| Transport | Package dimensions, handling supports and delivery access | Agreed packing and logistics plan |
| Installation | Access route, lifting arrangements and available assembly space | Project installation review |

Ask each responsible party to review the same proposed length. A transport solution cannot correct a tube that fails the dimensional requirement, and a manufacturing confirmation does not establish site access.

## How should straightness be specified?

State the requirement, measurement method, support condition and acceptance locations. Long tubes can be evaluated differently depending on how they are supported during measurement, so the procedure belongs with the limit.

For heat-exchanger tubes, the equipment drawing may also control end dimensions and insertion requirements. [ASTM A213/A213M-25](https://store.astm.org/a0213_a0213m-25.html) provides a product scope for seamless boiler, superheater and exchanger tubes; the full standard and project drawing establish the actual requirements.

Where applicable, [ASTM A1016/A1016M-24a](https://store.astm.org/a1016_a1016m-24a.html) explains the relationship between general, product and stricter order requirements. Put additional length or inspection requirements in the order rather than assuming “extra-long” includes them.

## What should the quotation compare?

Ask for separate offers for technically acceptable length options. Keep material, total quantity, inspection and delivery basis consistent. Identify changes in packing, handling, cutting waste and site joining as explicit cost assumptions rather than claiming a universal saving.

Send the required continuous length, layout constraints, dimensions and inspection plan through the [Junda contact page](https://jundapipe.com/contact). Request confirmation of feasible combinations and deviations. For a shaped exchanger component, continue with the [U-tube drawing guide](https://jundapipe.com/blog/stainless-steel-u-tube-drawing).
