Thin-wall stainless tubing needs an agreed acceptance plan for dimensions, end condition, examination and handling. Define what “thin wall” means in the drawing and order. Do not rely on the product category to establish wall tolerance, resistance to handling damage or compatibility with a fitting.

Junda lists fine-rolled thin-walled stainless steel pipe. Catalogue source Confirm the dimensions and required tubing specification for the actual application before placing an order.

Which geometry should inspection cover?

Identify the dimensions that affect the assembly and the locations where they matter. The end that enters a fitting may need a different inspection focus from a free span.

Internal clearanceID or an agreed bore requirementDefined gauge or measurement procedure

Wall acceptanceValue, nominal/minimum basis and toleranceMeasurements tied to the product requirement

These are items for agreement, not universal tolerance values. The precision tubing guide illustrates how OD and wall variation can affect calculated ID.

How should nondestructive examination be specified?

State the examination method, procedure, applicable standard, reference standard, coverage and acceptance criteria. The existence of an eddy current machine does not establish suitability for every diameter, wall or alloy.

ASTM E426-16(2021) has defined material, technique and dimensional scope for tubular products. Compare the proposed examination against the actual tube, rather than borrowing a generic “100% tested” phrase. Ask how end zones and any unexamined regions will be handled.

The product specification remains part of the decision. ASTM A269/A269M-25 describes nominal-wall austenitic tubing for general service, while A1016/A1016M-24a sets general requirements for the tube standards it covers. Read the full requirements and agreed order together.

What should packing protect and document?

Define the required protection of ends, surfaces and straightness during handling and transport. Ask the supplier to propose supports, separation and bundle restraint suitable for the ordered dimensions. Agree how material identity remains connected to the bundle and documents.

Do not assume a packing photograph proves that the delivered tubes retain the ordered dimensions. Preserve a receiving inspection stage after unpacking, with the same dimensional acceptance basis used at release.

What is a useful receiving sequence?

Before opening, record package identity and visible condition. During unpacking, compare labels and quantities with the packing list. Then inspect the agreed sample or full quantity for end condition, geometry and surface requirements. Connect any discrepancy to the individual piece or bundle.

Separate transport observations from dimensional acceptance findings so the responsible parties can investigate. Send the drawing, examination scope and packing requirements through the Junda contact page, requesting written confirmation of the proposed plan.
